Niccolo Brown

Niccolo Brown Mic maestro DRS has assembled a stellar cast of drum & bass glitterati (Skeptical, Calibre and Marcus Intalex to name but three) to construct a dazzling polyrhythmic arena for his gymnastic rhymes to dance in and the result is an album so electrifying it's hard to see how anything could top it in 2015. If you love hip-hop, drum & bass and soul, "Mid Mic Crisis" is like being served ambrosia by angels in Elysium. Favorite track: The Puppeteer Ft Jubei.
SynthForce

about

The Manchester living, world travelling artist gives us his most complete work to date, a canvas painted vividly with all his experiences collected up to the present date.
It says much about DRS as an artist that the production is handled by an all-star cast, his influence and reach extends beyond any one genre, for example Toddla T rubs shoulders with Skeptical and yet there is an undeniable cohesion across the album and this is largely the case due to DRS’s confidence and vision in the album.
It’s a project that he feels very comfortable about releasing: “I think the album is my best and most
personal work to date, people have excepted me as an artist and not just a guy who shouts at them in large dark rooms”
As a musician I'm naturally inquisitive and
He goes onto explain why the album is so varied in style: “
open minded, I'm constantly analysing and breaking down music and genres. So for me to make just a DnB album, or just whatever, I wouldn't be being true to myself or be satisfied.”
It’s a project we are very excited about releasing here at Soul:R, it truly feels like a coming of age for DRS in many ways, it contains a previously unheard level of truth from the artist: “All I ever want to express is my way of thinking and viewing the world in the very best way I can, my life is yin and yang, light and dark, happy and sad, so is my music and my new album.”
DRS has really put soul into this album and it’s evident from the get go, the message is clear and unwavering- it’s time to accept that DRS is one of the best in the game.
